Highland Tap
Highland Tap
Highland Tap is not your run-of-the-mill steakhouse situated underground (plenty of those, right?). This place actually looks and feels like some sort of gangster hunting lodge. Think “Karen Allen’s bar in Raiders of the Lost Ark,” but without all the snow outside. For those born after 1990, and don’t know Indiana Jones from the state of Indiana, a better reference might be “the underground tavern where the Inglorious Basterds meet Bridget von Hammersmark,” only without all the shooting and Nazis. Sure, the atmosphere here rules, but a party comes to Highland Tap for the food rather than to let loose. Too many steakhouses have forgotten how to do prime rib, but not the Tap; here you can get anywhere from 10 to 20 ounces of the stuff, slow-roasted and with the option of crawfish tails & hollandaise sauce on the side.
Stick around post-dinner. The further the night progresses, the blurrier the line between Highland Tap the steakhouse and Highland Tap the alcohol-cured hunting tavern becomes. Especially if you’re hunting cougars.
